Our story starts with a bus ticket from Glenwood, Minnesota.
In the early 1970s, a young man named Clayton made his way to Minneapolis and walked into a power cord manufacturing plant looking for a job. He started where everyone earns their stripes - on the factory floor, running machines, learning the trade from the ground up.. On weekends he cleaned bathrooms. At night he brought parts home. He and his wife, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law would sit together in the parking space behind the house, cutting jute filler by hand for a penny a cord.
Over nearly four decades, Clayton learned every corner of the power cord industry from the machines, materials ,the factory floor, and the customer relationships that would define the rest of his career.
In July 2006, Clayton created CD Pro-Power Cords Inc. The phone rang on day on one with customers who had worked with Clayton for decades and wanted to follow him. Within a couple of years, CD Pro-Power Cords, Inc. was already outpacing what much larger operations had been doing for years.
Today CD Pro-Power Cords is a family business carrying on the same hands-on commitment that has defined this company from day one.
We supply OEM manufacturers, distributors, and consumers with a full range of power supply cords, cord sets, plugs and connectors — all UL and CSA approved, built to meet or exceed industry standards. We work with trusted factory partners in the United States and abroad, and we stock customer inventory in our own warehouse so your supply chain never skips a beat.
